On a misty Saturday morning at the Westmont College track, over fifty runners, ages nine to eighty, raced in the annual Vicki’s 3000 and raised over $1500 for the Special Olympics. This race honors Vicki Paulsen, daughter of Robin and Bobbi Paulsen.  Vicki’s story can be found in Robin’s book titled ‘I have to tell you about Vicki’.

In the book, Robin discusses one of the greatest days of Vicki’s life –the day she competed in the Special Olympics Track and Field competition at Santa Barbara City College. She won blue ribbons for her victories in the softball throw and the 400m relay. She also placed in the 100m race.

Vicki died in 1996 after a life that was filled with seizures and challenges but also with reportedly great hugs and unmatched kindness.

Thank you to all who participated in this special race in honor of Vicki Paulsen.
